DEPARTMENT:

Respiratory Medicine has a unique and comprehensive spectrum of expertise in Australia across clinical and basic allergy and advanced adult lung diseases, including severe asthma, emphysema, interstitial lung diseases, sleep apnoea, cystic fibrosis (CF; State Centre of Excellence) and lung transplantation. It comprises of four Clinical Services, supported by the Bronchoscopy Service and the Physiology Service the Lung Function Laboratory and the Sleep Laboratory. The services include:

• • Lung Transplant Service
  • Cystic Fibrosis Service
  • General Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Service
  • Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology Service

POSITION:

The Alfred Sleep Service is committed to providing a high quality clinical service and is actively involved in Sleep Medicine Research. 

We are seeking candidates with an appropriate science degree to work as a Sleep Scientist in our Sleep Laboratory that provides both overnight studies and portable studies. 

This position is to support the home PSG testing service, thus a typical week would consist of three (3) dayshifts of eight (8) hour duration each.

Sleep Scientists are expected to attend a monthly in-service meeting, which are typically held from 1830 to 2030.  Shift and meeting times may be subject to change.

The incumbent may be requested to relieve other staff when absent for example, due to annual leave or sick leave.  Whilst a period of notice for annual leave cover is possible, sick leave cover requests will of course be of shorter duration, often-same day request.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts (Psychology major).

Highly motivated professional with good communication and troubleshooting skills who is capable of interacting as a team member.
