Services are provided by a number of teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at St. Kilda Road Clinic, Waiora Clinic in Armadale, Alma Road Community Care Unit in St. Kilda and the Child & Adolescent Service located in Moorabbin. The single most important goal of Alfred Psychiatry is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
An exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to join a well established team that specialises in residential rehabilitation for people with severe mental illness and associated disability. To be successful in this role, you will have a demonstrated understanding of recovery and will apply the model in practice, relevant knowledge and demonstrated skills in managing safety, mental state assessment, care planning and with capability to provide responsive direct care and evidence-based interventions to support clients participating in the program.
With the guidance of the grade two occupational therapist the incumbent will be expected to provide support and clinical inputs on a day to day basis to clients residing at ARCC. The occupational therapist will also help plan, implement and evaluate OT interventions with residents, in addition to conducting a variety of functional assessments. The incumbent will form part of an occupational therapy team at ARCC comprising of an OT2 and graduate OT.
In this role you will be required to work across a rotoating roster over 7 days a week including evenings.
Registration with APHRA as an occupational therapist.
A current driver’s licence is essential.
Demonstrable record of safe and appropriate clinical practice with sound risk and mental state assessment skills.
Comprehensive understanding of key aspects of Mental Health Act and other relevant Acts.
