Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides a comprehensive range of pathology testing, consultation services and collection services to clinicians and patients of AlfredHealth. The Service has 4 units (Anatomical Pathology, Biochemistry, Haematology and Microbiology).

This position is in the Central Specimen Processing section of Alfred Pathology Service.


The role involves prompt sorting, processing and registration of pathology samples and requests.

The duties may include provision of pathology collection information to clientsa and handling telephone enquiries.

The hours of work 


  • Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent
  • Effective verbal and written communication 
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Touch-typing skills are highly desirable.
  • Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Previous experience in pathology, particularly in Specimen Reception will be well regarded
  • Technical skills appropriate to laboratory functions are desirable
