ALFRED HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICE -
Alfred Health’s Acute Physiotherapy Service provides physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital. Alfred Health’s Acute Physiotherapy Service is the amalgamation of The Alfred Physiotherapy Department and the Sandringham Hospital Physiotherapy Department. The Acute Physiotherapy Service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the fifth and latter stream based at the Sandringham site. The Acute Physiotherapy Service consists of approximately 62.0 eft and 120 people. The Acute Physiotherapy Service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. It remains strongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy.
Caulfield Physiotherapy Department provides an extensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services in the areas of rehabilitation, aged care, and transition care services. The physiotherapy department has 47.0EFT (70 staff) including 55 physiotherapists and also professionally supports a further 36 staff working in other ambulatory and community services on site. The department provides subacute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: neurology, ABI, non-traumatic spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, orthopaedics, amputees, burns, complex regional pain, cardiac rehabilitation, aged care, transitional care and aged psychiatry. In addition to these services the department is also responsible for the day to day management of the hydrotherapy pool.
Caulfield, Alfred and Sandringham physiotherapy departments work closely together to provide a consistently high quality and equitable service across the continuum. There is strong commitment to a service delivery model that can flexibly move resources across all sites to accommodate fluctuations in service demand. Physiotherapy staff routinely rotate across all Alfred Health campuses and support the weekend and after hours services on all campuses. Caulfield Physiotherapy Department is a major partner in the Alfred Health Physiotherapy Clinical Schools for both La Trobe and Monash universities and in this role provides core clinical placements for more than 80 students annually. There is a strong commitment to professional development and research with staff able to access an extensive continuing education program on site and the support of the Professor of Physiotherapy for research activities.
THE ROLE -
The Physiotherapist (Casual) on the acute sites (Alfred, Sandringham) is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy services to the Intensive Care Unit, General Wards, General Medicine, Orthopaedic/Trauma, Burns, Cystic Fibrosis and/or Emergency Departments, and in consultation with senior physiotherapists / senior clinician(s) and stream leader at the level of a developing expert.
The Physiotherapist (Casual) on the subacute site (Caulfield) is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy services to the Inpatient rehabilitation, Aged Care, Better @ Home, Amputees, Spinal Cord Injury, Acquired Brain Injury units in consultation with senior physiotherapists / senior clinician(s) and stream leader at the level of a developing expert.
The Physiotherapist (Casual) will be responsible for the provision of high quality physiotherapy service for an identified caseload. You will work within an interdisciplinary framework to ensure care is tailored to the individual person’s needs, optimises outcome and minimises clinical risk. You will also contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the physiotherapy department service delivery through covering additional clinical and non clinical responsibilities during periods of staff leave or during times of increased service demand. The Physiotherapist (Casual) has an important role contributing to the development of individuals on weekends, the clinical team and the physiotherapy service through good leadership, teamwork and communication.
SKILLS + EXPERIENCE -
- Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills in the provision of physiotherapy services in a relevant area.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage a caseload, including the co-ordination of other staff.
