Alfred Health welcome applications for the position of Head of Kidney Transplant Surgery. The position is available either Full-time or substantial Part-time and can be discussed accordingly. The Head of Kidney Transplant Surgery will oversee excellent clinical care, whilst supporting Alfred Health's teaching, research and clinical governance programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to formulate a clear direction for the development of the service as well as a readiness to identify opportunities around service development and innovation.
At Alfred Health, the number of kidney transplants (including dual lung-kidney, heart kidney) has increased over the past 5 years with an aim of reaching 50 per year over the next 2 years. The service is very well supported medically by the Renal unit. The surgical requirements for kidney transplant surgery need to be enhanced to maintain quality outcomes and to meet this demand.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Kidney Transplantation (Type 1 kidney transplant surgeon as outlined in the TSANZ Guidelines or equivalent training is highly desirable) is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing. Experience and clinical skills in other aspects of surgical care for renal patients (e.g vascular access, peritoneal dialysis access etc) are highly desirable.
