The STAREE-Heart study is a sub-study of the STAREE trial (www.staree.org.au). STAREE is a double-blind, randomised primary prevention trial investigating whether daily active treatment of Atorvastatin versus placebo will enhance disability-free survival (death, dementia and disability) and prevent major cardiovascular outcomes in healthy participants aged 70 years and over. The trial is primarily funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia. STAREE-Heart is investigating whether statin treatment prevents atrial fibrillation and heart failure through imaging of the heart.
An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trial Coordinator to join the ‘STAtins in Reducing Events in the Elderly – Heart Sub-study’ (STAREE). The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the STAREE-Heart sub-study in Melbourne and Perth, with some support activity for the main trial when needed.
The main responsibility of the Clinical Trial Officer will be directly supporting the STAREE principal investigators and project manager in all aspects of conduct and implementation of a clinical trial. The Clinical Trial Coordinator will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians and nursing staff at general practices and/or hospitals and trial participants.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of having the ability to solve problems by using innovation and exercising diagnostic skills within areas of functional responsibility or professional expertise, have the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment and a high level of written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
