Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services.
The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine/Heart Centre at The Alfred assesses and treats patients with all forms of adult cardiovascular disease. The department comprises of outpatient clinics, investigation suites and an in-patient ward co-located with the Alfred Department of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. It has close links with the adjacently situated BakerIDI Heart and Diabetes Institute. In addition to patient care the Department has an extensive research and education programme. The Heart Centre is a superbly equipped facility, which conducts a full range of both invasive and non-invasive procedures. The Centre has four Cardiac Catheterisation labs and 13 digital echo machines, including 10 state-of-the-art 3D machines including 3D TOE. The department offers both inpatient and outpatient echo, research echo and daily Stress Echo sessions.
To carry out technical duties and training as specified in the Echocardiography Laboratory. To maintain high standards of technical practice and patient care. To be responsible for the planning, organisation and implementation of education in the Echocardiography Laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Applied Science degree or recognised number of years in the profession
DMU or QUT completion
Extensive experience in Echocardiography essential. Some experience in TOE and Stress Echo preferred.
The ability to sympathetically relate to patients and to co-operate with Departmental and hospital staff.
