Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.
The Department of Cardiology at the Alfred Hospital assesses and treats patients with all forms of adult cardiovascular disease, including those with advanced forms of heart failure, structural heart disease and heart rhythm disturbances. The Department comprises of outpatient clinics, investigation suites, three catheter laboratories and an inpatient ward collocated with The Alfred’s Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Department uses sophisticated imaging techniques including MRI, CT scanning and echocardiography to assess patients. In addition to patient care, the department conducts world-leading research and has an extensive education programme. It has close links with the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.
The Department has established a Cardiologist led inpatient team to support the pre- and post-operative activities of the Cardiothoracic surgical program. We are seeking to appoint a Cardiologist to assist in the review and management of this patient group, which includes patients referred with complex cardiac surgical and cardiological needs. Skills in other areas of subspecialty Cardiology and research may be desirable.
This position will be 24 hours per week.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Applicants must demonstrate relevant contemporary knowledge and experience in Cardiology and meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Cardiology.
