Alfred Mental & Addiction Health Workforce Development and Education is a dynamic team of interdisciplinary clinicians providing training and education to Nursing and Allied Health staff working in all areas of psychiatry. We work closely with management and staff to support cultural change and personal development using a collaborative


The Allied Health Practice Lead is responsible for co-ordination and maintenance of professional standards, credentialing, and education of AMAH Social Work and Occupational Therapy staff. Supporting Discipline Chiefs and the AH Principal for Inpatient Services, the AH practice lead will provide liaison and coordination to graduate and student programs and be responsible for promoting allied health workforce and education content development.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in the delivery of SW practice within public mental health services
  • Current knowledge of mental health care policy and SW practices that will ensure that SW fulfil the professional requirements of Alfred Mental and Addiction Health
  • Ability to provide and ensure the provision of secondary and tertiary consultation to other areas of Alfred Health and community services
  • Promote a spirit of inquiry regarding existing practice and the development and testing of new approaches to care.
  • Ability to generate ideas, create learning programs and facilitate learning opportunities/professional development with clinical mental staff.
  • Capacity to lead innovation in mental health services that incorporates discipline specific perspectives and client/family centred care  


  • Eligible for membership to AASW Accreditation and/or working towards accreditation as a Mental Health Social worker
  • Minimum of seven years post-graduate clinical experience
  • Postgraduate qualifications preferred
