Senior Clinician Physiotherapist (Grade 3)
Part time, fixed term (maternity leave cover until 31/12/21, 48 hours/fortnight)
Alfred Health’s subacute service provides physiotherapy services to patients at Caulfield across the aged care and rehabilitation wards including the Better at Home bed substitution wards.
The Sub Acute Physiotherapy Service is organised into three functional streams: Musculoskeletal, Neurology and Aged care.
The Senior Clinician (Neurological Rehabilitation) Grade 3 physiotherapist is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy services to the neurological patient population. This patient population includes Stroke, SCI neurosurgery, progressive neurological diseases, brain injury and tumours. The Senior Clinician (Neurological Rehabilitation) physiotherapist is responsible for the integration of a number of associated workforce innovation initiatives along the neurological patient’s continuum of care.
The Senior Clinician (Neurological Rehabilitation) is responsible for the education of physiotherapy students and the supervision and professional development of Grade 2, Grade 1 and AHA staff assigned to this area.
The Senior Clinician (Neurological Rehabilitation) physiotherapist is also responsible for and expected to be engaged in research and / or quality activities within their specialised area of interest, or more broadly for the physiotherapy service.
The Senior Clinician (Neurological Rehabilitation) physiotherapist has an important role contributing to the development of individuals, the clinical team and the physiotherapy service through good leadership, teamwork and communication.
- Ability to plan and manage a complex caseload
- Ability to undertake quality improvement initiatives
- Expert knowledge of Neurological Physiotherapy Practice
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Completion, or working towards, post graduate qualification (desirable)
- Expertise in homebased neurological rehabilitation and/or spinal cord injury physiotherapy management (desirable)
