Applications are invited for the Professor and Director of Gastroenterology. This is a joint appointment with Alfred Health and Monash University.
The Professor and Director of Gastroenterology will be responsible for leadership and ongoing strategic development of Gastroenterology Services at Alfred Health. Gastroenterology Services within Alfred Health incorporate the clinical management of inpatients admitted under the care of the unit and outpatients referred to the service, a consultative service to other units/departments within the hospital, the provision of a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic service and a laboratory based diagnostic service to aid in the diagnosis and management of GI and liver diseases, a contribution to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and the development of a viable research program.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in in a major teaching hospital with substantial clinical experience in a specific area of Gastroenterology with demonstrated innovative capabilities is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Gastroenterology.
The appointee will have outstanding communication skills including well-developed conflict resolution skills and ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels and national and international recognition for academic excellence as evidenced by publications and other scholarly achievements.
