Social Worker Grade 2 with an Acute Mental Health and Addictions focus
Alfred Psychiatry is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
Services are provided by a number of teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at St. Kilda Road Clinic, Waiora Clinic in Armadale, Alma Road CCU in St. Kilda and the Child & Adolescent Service located in Moorabbin. Alfred Psychiatry also works in partnership with relevant local non-government and social support agencies.
The Alfred Psychiatry inpatient service consists of 58 adult psychiatric beds located on the Alfred campus. The inpatient team is a strong and comprehensive multidisciplinary team which provides a state-wide psychiatric intensive care service comprising of 4 state-wide beds.
The position involves the provision of a comprehensive professional social work service. The Social Worker is responsible for the provision of Advanced Social Work services to patients and their families and carers within the Inpatient Units of Alfred Psychiatry.The Social Work Service offers patients, their carers and their families a range of services to assist in managing the impact of illness and hospitalisation.
