Grade 3 Dietitian
Full Time Fixed Term Position (12 month maternity leave backfill commencing October)
Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department is seeking an outstanding senior clinical dietitian with experience in renal dietetics.
The Department The Department of Renal Medicine at Alfred Health provides care across medical and surgical ward services, pre-dialysis assessment, and renal replacement therapies. The department offers haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis programs with an evolving emphasis on home-based therapies. The department of renal medicine also provides a comprehensive kidney transplantation service. There are also outpatient clinics at all three hospital campuses in Alfred Health. The Role The Grade 3 Renal Dietitian will work as part of a team integrated into a multidisciplinary model of care to provide clinical nutrition services to the Renal Unit. This includes services to inpatients and outpatients and satellite units on the Mornington Peninsula. Care is also provided through the use of e-health and other technologies to facilitate or support patients in self-care. The Grade 3 Dietitian is also the team lead for dietitians working within chonic disease which is a large and varied portfolio of specialised medical services including acute inpatient and outpatient services. S/he is responsible for the supervision and professional development of junior nutrition staff in that team as well as the education of nutrition and dietetic students. The Skills Clinical expertise in the nutritional management of renal disease, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of co-ordination and implementation of quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role. The Nutrition department has a proud history of research and there is opportunity to participate and/or undertake research projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate: Clinical expertise in nutrition in renal disease
An in-depth working knowledge of pathways of care for patients requiring renal replacement therapy including home based services
Experience in leading a team and supporting junior staff
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in nutrition education
Experience of continuous quality improvement and service development
At Least 7 years post-graduate experience
Eligibility for membership of DAA and APD credentialed is essential
Post graduate qualification or be progressing toward one
