Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The Hospital Outreach Post (suicide attempt) Team (Hope) is an arm of the Consultation, Liaison & Emergency Psychiatry service (CLE) at The Alfred


We are seeking a Support Worker to work within our highly successful suicide prevention team, Hope.

You will work intensively with clients for 3 months post a suicide attempt or presentation with suicidal ideation to assist them to address the issues that brought them to this point, address the gaps in their lives and build their resilience.

You will be supported by senior clinicians who will provide oversight, review risks and provide brief therapeutic interventions. This is a highly challenging and rewarding role.


  • Hold a qualification in a health related field and/or engaged in further studies
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License is essential


  • Other relevant qualifications (or working towards) in a relevant area such as drug and alcohol or psychosocial or therapeutic interventions
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis or with mental health issues
