The Department


Alfred Mental and Addiction Health is the Area Mental Health Service responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

Services are provided by a number of teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at St Kilda Road Clinic in St.Kilda, PARC in South Yarra, Alma Road CCU in St. Kilda, the Chld & Adolescent Service currently located in Moorabbin and Aged Psychiatry based at Caulfield Hospital.

Alfred Mental and Addiction Health Adult services comprise 3 Programs:

  • Acute Program (Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Units)
  • Emergency and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (Triage, CATT, Emergency Dept and CL)
  • (Adult) Community Mental and Addiction Health (St Kilda Road Clinic, PARC, Alma Rd CCU)

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated mental health clinician with demonstrated experience in leadership to join our team in the important role of Manager of St Kilda Road Clinic.

St Kilda Road Clinic (SKRC) is the (Adult) Community Mental Health Service delivery site for Alfred Mental and Addiction Health, covering the inner south area of Melbourne that provides clinical, client - focused interventions with an emphasis on assessment, treatment, recovery and support for people experiencing serious mental illness. This is achieved through both centre based and outreach activities undertaken by a number of site based clinical teams

This role is responsible for the day to day running of SKRC and operational management of the site to ensure safe and effective service delivery. It includes a range of site-management responsibilities including; building maintenance, contracts management but also is integral in ensuring a positive environment for both staff and consumers.  We are looking for a person that has strong leadership skills, sound clinical knowledge and the ability to manage and motivate staff. This position works closely with the senior leadership to develop and implement new opportunities whilst ensuing stability to enable the provision of high quality care.


  • Organised, flexible, motivated and proactive
  • Mental Health experience in a range of community settings
  • Demonstrated leadership/management experience
  • Committed to the provision of high quality clinical services
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Post Graduate Degree in Health Service Management (or related) desirable
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence


St Kilda Road Clinic offers modern facilities and has a café downstairs. The Clinic is centrally located, easily accessed by public transport and is less than a 10 minute walk along St Kilda Rd to the Alfred Hospital.
