  • Fixed one-year contract 
  • Full time (76 hours / 9 day fortnight) 
  • Medical Oncology Department 

The Medical Oncology Unit provides co-ordinated multidisciplinary management for adult patients with malignancies. An important component of this care are the Clinical Trial/Research activities we participate in, which enable us to offer forthcoming and novel investigational treatments to our patients. 

Alfred Cancer Trials (ACT) conducts phase I, II and III trials, and is a participating member of both National and International Clinical Trials Groups, incorporating both pharmaceutical industry sponsored and investigator driven studies across a wide range of tumour types. 

Position Summary 

The position is with the Alfred Cancer Trials (ACT) team and is as a key resource for the research Study Coordinators and Principal Investigators, in the care of research patients at Alfred Health.  The position includes responsibility of processes clinical trial samples, managing patient data bases, assisting with data entry into eCRF’s and maintain investigator site files ISF in accordance with clinical trial protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and clinical trial Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).  The position will assist in  the delivery of direct and indirect care and associated data collection for concurrent research studies, in accordance with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Note for Guidance on Good Clinical Practice (CPMP/ICH/135/95) and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans.  

Essential Skills/Experience 

  • Science or Health related degree 

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Familiar with medical laboratories processes 

  • Excellent computer skills and ability to set up and manage new technology with 3rd  

               party vendors 

  • Ability to prioritise workload within established policies, guidelines and procedures 

  • Flexibility to work collaboratively within a team and independently.  

  • Initiative and self-motivation is essential to daily tasks.  

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem solving skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. 

  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and deliver outcomes as required, with accuracy and attention to detail 


  • Clinical trial experience in the hospital setting 

  • GCP certified
