The Department

Monash University are seeking a Clinical Trial Research Officer (Field Officer) to join the ‘STAtins in Reducing Events in the Elderly’ (STAREE) clinical trial based at the Alfred Centre in Melbourne.

STAREE ( is a double-blind, randomised primary prevention trial investigating whether daily active treatment of Atorvastatin versus placebo will enhance disability free survival (death, dementia and disability) and prevent major cardiovascular outcomes in healthy participants aged 70 years and over.  The trial is primarily funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia.

The Role

STAREE is searching for an enthusiastic, personable clinical trial officer will be responsible for administering the study visits for participants in the STAREE clinical trial. The successful candidate will be joining the team in Melbourne, servicing the Western region. The role may include supporting other STAREE locations as required. Travel and overnight stays may be required. Previous clinical trial experience would be beneficial.

  • A degree in a relevant area, from a recognised university with subsequent relevant work experience or extensive experience leading to the development of specialist expertise or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education;
  • Ability to solve problems discretely by using innovation and exercising diagnostic skills within areas of functional responsibility or professional expertise;
  • Highly organised with proven ability to appropriately prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
  • High-level of written and verbal communication skills, experience in customer service and business ethics;
  • Computer literacy in databases, word processing and spreadsheets;
