Alfred Mental and Addiction Health sits within the Acute Operations at The Alfred. It comprises both adult and child & adolescent services and a research unit. There is an important relationship with the aged mental health service at Caulfield Hospital.
This role provides a rare opportunity to combine skills and interest in working with clients with both complex mental health disorders and forensic issues. Based within a supportive community mental health service, the Forensic Clinical Specialist role is part of a small team providing highly valued assessments, consultation and advice regarding clients across Alfred Health. Alfred Health is seeking an experienced and passionate mental health practitioner with a proven track record working with this client group.
This senior position reports to the Manager of Community Psychiatry and is clinically accountable to the Program Director of Alfred Mental and Addiction Health. The role is well supported with professional supervision and access to excellent training and professional development opportunities.
A commitment to mental health consumer recovery
Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation surrounding mental health and the criminal justice system
Knowledge of current psychological approaches in working with mentally disordered patients
Ability to perform interventions and assessments in clinical/ forensic mental health practices.
