The Department

In October 2019, a new purpose-built Trauma and Orthopaedics ward, 5 West, opened at The Alfred replacing ward 2 West. This is a 40-bed ward (including 8 single-bed patient rooms), with a dedicated surgical procedure zone, active therapy zones and spaces for families and carers.

The Role

Allied Health are launching a new workforce model for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients on the new Ward 5 West and this position will be an important part of this team. This project will run for a fixed 12-month period and will be evaluated by an external partner. Future positions will be subject to securing ongoing funding. The Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist will provide a full range of neuropsychology services including assessment and intervention to trauma patients on ward 5 WEST. Liaison with and collaborative work with other members of the multidisciplinary team is an essential aspect of the position. The Clinical Neuropsychologist will be expected to participate in Psychology and Trauma professional development and service development activities and will function as a senior member of The Alfred Health Psychology Department. Some weekend work will be required. It is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services, including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.

Skills 

  • Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
  • Endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology.
