In October 2019, a new purpose-built Trauma and Orthopaedics ward, 5 West, opened at The Alfred replacing ward 2 West. This is a 40-bed ward (including 8 single-bed patient rooms), with a dedicated surgical procedure zone, active therapy zones and spaces for families and carers.
Allied Health are launching a new workforce model for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients on the new Ward 5 West and this position will be an important part of this team. This project will run for a fixed 12-month period and will be evaluated by an external partner. Future positions will be subject to securing ongoing funding.
