The Department Monash School of Public Health & Preventive Medicine is a teaching and research unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and is centred at the Alfred Hospital Campus beside the Burnet Institute. It plays a prominent role in public health medicine in Australia. The Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (DEPM) is the largest member of the School. The core skills of the department relate to epidemiology (the study of the distribution, risk factors and causes of disease) and its application to problems in clinical medicine and public health. The department provides a strong research capability in a series of areas of particular relevance to infectious disease control including large database skills, emergency care research, therapeutics (including clinical trials, post-marketing surveillance and pharmaco-economics). The Role The STAREE Administration Manager provides key support to the clinical trial as part of the STAREE project at the Clinical Trial Centre based at the Alfred Centre, Melbourne. This position will provide administrative leadership to the Principal Investigator, Project Manager and other STAREE staff.
Skills • Tertiary qualification with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage staff with a commitment to delivery of excellent service to the school’s staff, students and the public. • Advanced planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet stringent timelines. • Proven expertise, knowledge and skills in project management and provision of quality administrative support services including the ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate activities, provide advice, access and organise resources and monitor, evaluate and improve project output. • Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to draft correspondence and reports, deal tactfully with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and effectively manage key stakeholder relationships. • Comprehensive computer literacy skills including experience with contemporary business packages and tools such as the Microsoft Office suite of software, E-mail and the internet and the ability to acquire skills in the use of new software packages.
