The Department

DEPARTMENT OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND PREVENTIVE MEDICINE (DEPM)

DEPM has broad expertise in applied clinical and public health research. Its core skills of epidemiology, biostatistics and data management support extensive research programs aimed at reducing suffering, preventing illness and improving quality of life.  The department's research program takes place in settings ranging from remote communities and workplaces to intensive care units.

The Role

As Project Coordinator for the Australian sites, contributing to the IRONMAN project, you will oversee the continued implementation and monitoring of the project within Australia.

IRONMAN is a registry for men with advanced prostate cancer. The IRONMAN registry collects information about a man's type of prostate cancer, their treatment and what side effects they may be experiencing. Blood samples are also being collected and stored to enable future studies to identify and validate molecular phenotypes that predict response and resistance to specific treatments. Collecting and researching this information will enable us to better understand what causes prostate cancer, how to stop or slow its progression, and how to provide the best possible care to enable men to live the best quality life possible. The aim is to recruit 5,000 men across 10 countries. IRONMAN is bringing together a global community to fight advanced prostate cancer.
