Neurology is a developing specialty within Alfred Health, and recent investment has produced significant growth in this area, particularly with regard to research and clinical trials. Neurology at Alfred Health consists of inpatient units and a range of specialised outpatient clinics.

The Role

The Business Support Officer role provides an opportunity to join a dynamic Clinical Trials team as part of the Alfred Health, Department of Neurology. The Business Support Officer will work closely with research coordinators and clinicians, ensuring that all clinical trial payments are billed and all reimbursements for other expenses (such as patient accommodation, travel, HREC fees, ethics fees) are paid. The post holder will work closely with the departmental Business Manager. The position is for 3 days a week.



  • Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable or book keeping
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology Excellent PC skills proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Accounting software program
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with people in a variety of contexts and levels of seniority
  • Demonstrated accountability and initiative
  • Demonstrated team work and collaboration to achieve department goals
  • Demonstrated time management, organisational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Understanding of Good Clinical Practice
  • Knowledge of trial implementation
  • Understanding of the role of Trial Sponsors
