Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria.  The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.

Applications are invited for the position of Visiting Medical Officer within Respiratory Medicine, responsible to the Director.   The role provides clinical care to patients primarily within Respiratory Medicine and is also actively engaged in patient care, research and education.  The key objective is to provide continuity of patient care during sabbatical leave.  As such various roles including Bronchoscopy, ward service and clinic cover is anticipated. It is expected that in addition to 0.5 EFT sessional allocation, the successful applicant will be available to assist in relevant bulk billing (MBS) clinics.  This potentially would allow a full time commitment to Alfred Health.

The incumbent may be required to assist in the development, implementation and audit of agreed management protocols and models of care consistent with international best practice standards across all areas within the Services, Department and with other related disciplines in the context of current professional knowledge and available resources.  The supervision of Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs), Registrars, Fellows, Locums and trainees in conjunction with the Clinical Service Head and Director may also be required.

Appointees must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and hold Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians.  Significant experience across wide areas of Respiratory Medicine including Lung Transplant together with relevant procedural work is highly desirable.  Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research is desirable.
