Research Assistant, the National Gynae-Oncology Registry (NGOR)

 

  • Fixed term (12 months) contract with potential to extend
  • Part time (0.6 FTE à 3 days per week)

The Department

The Cancer Research Program (CRP), led by medical oncologist and cancer researcher Professor John Zalcberg, primarily works to create and maintain cancer clinical quality registries with a view to improving health care and patient outcomes. We are a friendly group of hardworking individuals from a variety of health-related backgrounds who work across a number of registries and other research projects in a supportive environment.

The Role

The National Gynae-Oncology Registry (NGOR) is a clinical quality registry for gynaecological cancers. The registry currently only covers ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancers however is about to expand to other gynaecological tumour types with the support of the Epworth Medical Foundation. The role of the NGOR research assistant will involve developing a set of measures of best practice, called quality indicators, through the thorough review of published literature and existing national and international guidelines around the management of these diseases, and engaging with clinical experts to identify key indicators that can feasibly be assessed within the context of the registry.  

 

Skills 

  • A degree in a relevant area, from a recognised university with subsequent relevant work experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Experience reviewing scientific literature and a good understanding of medical terminology and health care systems
  • Great organisational and time management skills with an eye for detail
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • High level computer literacy
