  • Intern Radiation Therapist – Supervised Practice Program (SPP)

    One-year contract to undertake a radiation therapy supervised practice program, building in general radiation therapy planning and treatment skills towards becoming a competent Radiation therapist.


    The Department

    Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service, spread across two sites, Alfred Radiation Oncology at The Alfred - Melbourne and Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) - Traralgon. The service provides the full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services in addition to some specialised services with both state and national significance.




    AHRO Supervised Practice Program (SPP) Positions for 2020 are-

    ·         2 positions at Alfred Health Oncology (ARO) - The Alfred

    ·         1 position at Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) – LRH


    These positions are for a one-year contract (from 13th January 2020 to 8th of January 2021) to undertake a supervised practice program building in general radiation therapy planning and treatment skills towards becoming a competent Radiation therapist. Successful applicants will gain exposure to specialty areas of practice such as stereotactic, total body irradiation and brachytherapy services. 


    Application Process

    All applicants should submit

    ·         a cover letter (clearly indicating a preference for ARO, GRO or both sites)

    ·         a Curriculum Vitae including only 2 clinical referees; each referee should be contactable and able to reply via email from November 11th to 22nd 2019. Both email addresses and phone numbers are sought.

    If a visa is required to commence the SPP year it is the responsibility of the applicant to organise this.

    Applicants must be registered to the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) computer matching service and indicate either centre on their Candidate’s Priority List (CPL).
