Applications are invited for the position of a full time Consultant Pathologist in Anatomical Pathology at one of Australia's leading, successful and future focused hospitals. The Alfred is a 350 bed, tertiary referral hospital affiliated with Monash University and is a member of Alfred Health which also incorporates Sandringham Hospital and Caulfield Hospital.
As part of the Alfred Pathology Service, the Anatomical Pathology Unit provides high quality diagnostic and consultative services in specialist histopathology and cytopathology to Alfred Health and also provides Anatomical Pathology services to the Northern hospital. You will join a team of 6.5 consultants and 4 registrars.
Specialist areas in the hospital include - the heart and lung transplantation program and HIV/AIDS services. The unit also provides pathology reporting to the Victorian Melanoma Service and the Victorian Neuromuscular Laboratory Service.
This position includes active participation in educational and professional development training programs for medical students and registrars. The unit is also involved in and supports a wide range of research activity in association with hospital clinical units and AMREP partnerships. You will be supported in your ongoing professional development and within areas of diagnostic interest.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, possess a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or a postgraduate clinical qualification in Pathology which meets the College's requirements for this position) and appropriate specialist experience. Applicants must be prepared to participate in a pathologist on-call roster and after hours service in addition to a rotational roster to provide on-site Anatomical Pathology services based at the Northern Hospital.
