DEPARTMENT:
Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness and addiction residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

POSITION:

The Deputy Director of Operations (Nursing) will have leadership responsibility for the effective delivery of aged and liaison mental health services at Caulfield Hospital and lead mental health nursing services across Alfred Mental and Addiction Health. The position will be based at Caulfield Hospital but will be required to work from the Alfred Hospital up to two days per week.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position will manage a range of relevant nursing and specific program activities, and work with the Program leadership team to ensure that the program consistently delivers high quality, cost effective services for its patients. Direct operational reports will include the Baringa Nurse Manager, and Manager of the MAPS program.

The position will be required to lead the mental health nursing profession ensuring recruitment and retention strategies are in place to attract and retain the best nurses.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The Deputy Director of Operations (Nursing) will be a Registered Nurse with tertiary qualification in health care and meets registration requirements with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

  • Post Graduate diploma in Mental Health
  • Holds or is working towards a Master’s degree in relevant area
  • Experience in nursing management and an understanding of health services and service delivery objectives.
  • A record of achievement in delivering services in accordance with the stated performance objectives
