Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of area mental health services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
These new and exciting Mental Health Engagement positions have been developed as part of the Government’s commitment to expanding and supporting the mental health workforce by providing newly graduated health practitioners who are nurses (Registered and Enrolled), social workers and occupational therapists with early in career mental health experience and exposure within a community mental health setting. Both positions based at St Kilda Road Clinic will have the opportunity to work within the Navigations Service, and our newly created Physical Health Stream, working to support client engagement and experience of service. These roles are valuable opportunities to begin to explore a career in mental health, gain on the ground experience and to make a difference to the experience of mental health clients and carers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Recently graduated health practitioner in nursing, social work or occupational therapy, and;
Strong interest in mental health and well-being and a career in the mental health sector.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including excellent telephone manner.
Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
A high level of administrative, logistic, schedule management, organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work as a team member and contribute to team decisions, as well as the willingness to take advice and direction.
An understanding of the range of issues experienced by people experiencing mental illness. presenting with high-level needs, and a commitment to helping meet the needs of consumers and families/carers.
Computer literacy, including knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs and the internet.
Possession of a full current Victorian driver’s license is essential.
