Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.
The Infectious Diseases Unit is one of the largest medical units within the Alfred. It incorporates; the Victorian HIV Service, Clinical Research Unit and the Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology Unit. The Unit has a specialty consult service and an active teaching and education role. The Unit works closely with the Burnet Institute and Monash University and has a large clinical and research profile. Applications are invited for the position of Visiting Medical Officer in Infectious Diseases. The role will be suited to someone with a clinical and research focus on antimicrobial pharmacology, microbiology, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. With a focus on leading laboratory based research focused on optimising antimicrobial usage. Appointees must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Infectious Diseases is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Infectious Diseases.
