Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria.  The Health Service operates three outstanding facilities: The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham.

Applications are invited for two fractional Respiratory Physicians in our Lung Transplant Service, Respiratory Medicine.  The roles will provide clinical care to patients primarily within the Lung Transplant Service and also actively engaged in patient care, research and education.  These fractional appointments will focus on the care of long term transplant survivorship.  The Respiratory Physicians will assist in the development, implementation and audit of agreed management protocols and models of care consistent with international best practice standards across all areas within the Services, Department and with other related disciplines in the context of current professional knowledge and available resources.  The supervision of Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs), Registrars, Fellows, Locums and trainees in conjunction with the Clinical Service Head and Director is also required.


Applicants must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered with the Medical Practitioners’ Board of Victoria, and hold Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians.  A higher research degree is desirable.  Significant experience in Lung Transplant and Respiratory Medicine together with relevant procedural work is essential.  Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research is desirable.
