The Department

The Staff Immunisation and Exposure Management Unit works with the Infection Prevention and Healthcare Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Units to provide a comprehensive immunisation and exposure management service across Alfred Health.
The department is located in the Private Consulting Suites Ground Floor, Centre Block at the Alfred Hospital. Satellite immunisation services are provided at Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals. The service is supported by an Infectious Diseases Physician one session per week.

The Role

An exciting opportunity to join the dedicated Staff Immunisation and Exposure Management team at the Alfred. In this full-time position, you would be undertaking immunisation assessments and offering immunisation to all relevant health care workers across the organization. The service also offers to follow up of staff exposed to communicable diseases and follow up of blood-borne virus exposures. You must be able to work independently and also demonstrate team playing, working as part of a small and dedicated team. 

Skills

  • You must be a current accredited Nurse Immuniser and an accredited HIV pre and Post-test Counsellor (or be willing to work towards).
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to motivate individuals and groups to achieve commonly held goals
  • Ability to problem solve and confront issues
  • Ability to work effectively and provide support to nursing staff, senior medical staff, a range of other health professionals and support service staff
