Data Analyst - Registry Science and Research

This position will be based in the Registry Science and Research Unit of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University.


The data analyst will provide statistical support in the analysis and reporting of data from registries in an accurate and timely manner. Specific duties include providing statistical support to produce reports which are statistically sound, troubleshooting existing data analytics problems with registries, undertaking quality control audits of data/analysis and assisting in the conduct training courses and workshops around registry sciences. The person will work with a team of other data analysts under the supervision of the senior biostatistician. The team is also involved in collaborative research with the various registries as well as methodological research, including spatial models, methods of risk adjustment and longitudinal data analysis and there will be opportunities to contribute in those areas as well.



  1. A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field with several years working experience, preferably in the field of public health, or a Master’s in Public Health degree or a Master’s degree in a related quantitative field.
  2. High-level analysis skills; experience with Stata software is essential plus R program is desirable
  3. Sound understanding of statistical principles
  4. Good knowledge of healthcare data
  5. Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct reports and documents
  6. A demonstrated awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy and information handling
  7. Capacity to work in a collegiate manner with other staff in the workplace
