Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services.
This role has the key responsibility for co-ordinating the management of oncology patients eligible for or enrolled on clinical trials within the Oncology Unit of the Alfred Hospital. This includes overseeing trial patients, their treatments and protocol specified reviews. Potential patients will be assessed for suitability and consented if appropriate in daily outpatient clinics. The role may include supervision of junior medical staff. The fellow will be expected to attend 5 outpatient clinics per week, as well as multidisciplinary meetings and weekly unit meetings. Engagement of individual research projects during the placement will be expected. Applications from two individuals for job sharing of a fellow single position will be considered if presented in a co-ordinated framework.
The placement will provide supervision, exposure and experience to enable the fellow to develop the skills, knowledge and credentials for transition into a medical oncology specialist training program or into the immediate post-FRACP phase of further career development.
Alfred Health is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve. Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged.
