The Nursing Allocation office is based at Alfred Health and provides supplementary staff to both Alfred and Sandringham sites when required due to increased service demand or shortfall in staffing requirements. The service provides advanced and just in time bookings.

The unit works in collaboration with Caulfield Hospital allocation unit to provide the overall service for Alfred Health.

The staff that are provided from this service includes general, psychiatric nurse and enrolled nurses, clerical staff and patient attendants. The staff can be provided via various contractual arrangements including permanent part time (Pool), Casual (bank) or Contractual (Agency).


The Nurse Bank & Pool Manager is responsible for the recruitment, management and allocation of the nurse bank & pool staff that assist the organisation in delivering on its organisational imperatives. This role is accountable for developing pool staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice and is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems to improve patient outcomes


  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Degree in healthcare/business management or working towards same.
  • Recent extensive clinical nursing experience in relevant health service.
  • Previous experience in managing a large casual nursing workforce is highly desirable.
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check
