DEPARTMENT

The Alfred Hospital Renal Transplant program began in 1966 and we remain one of the major kidney transplanting services in Victoria. At Alfred Health, the number of kidney transplants (including dual lung-kidney, heart kidney) has increased over the past 5 years with an aim of reaching 50 per year over the next 2 years.

The Alfred’s Renal Transplant program provides the following services:

  • Evaluation and preparation of kidney transplant recipients and live donors
  • Kidney transplantation (deceased donor, living donor, paired kidney exchange, pre-emptive transplantation)
  • Long term follow up care of kidney transplant recipients and live donors.
  • Dedicated pre/post transplantation out-patient clinics.

ROLE

The Renal Transplant Coordinator will be responsible for providing professional support and clinical expertise to people with end-stage renal disease who have chosen a kidney transplant care pathway.

We are looking for 2 Renal Transplant Coordinator's who will be responsible for providing professional support and clinical expertise to people with end-stage renal disease who have chosen a kidney transplant care pathway.

KEY CAPABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA
  • Extensive relevant post-graduate experience or diploma or working toward the same
  • Open to new approaches or initiatives and prepared to try new ways of working
  • Fosters teamwork and builds team spirit by role modelling team behaviours
  • Communicate well with consumers from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds
  • Take responsibility for own actions and is motivated who demonstrates excellent leadership skills
  • Understanding of Alfred Health Values
  • Advanced patient clinical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to analyse issues, coordinate tasks, set priorities and work to timelines in a pressured environment.
  • Demonstrated tactful communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills appropriate to deal with a wide range of complex and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to develop positive and collaborative working relationships.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence
