The single most important goal of Alfred Psychiatry is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.


ARCC currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced psychiatric nurse who would like to gain experience in the community. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated understanding of the recovery model and will apply this model in practice. You will also have relevant knowledge and demonstrated skills in managing safety, mental state assessment, care planning and the capability to provide responsive direct care and evidence based interventions to support clients participating in the program to engage in self-management. You will work a rotating roster over 24 hours, 7 days a week and will be required to consult, liase and negotiate with patients, carers, family members and other professionals.

  • Registration with APHRA as a nurse.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in nursing.
  • A current driver’s licence is essential.
  • Post registration experience is essential, preferably in inpatient or residential rehabilitation settings.
  • Demonstrable record of safe and appropriate clinical practice with sound risk and mental state assessment skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of key aspects of Mental Health Act and other relevant Acts.
  • A high performance, team player who is customer focussed, motivated and enthusiastic.
