Alfred Psychiatry is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
Services are provided by a number of teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at St. Kilda Road Clinic, Waiora Clinic in Armadale, Alma Road CCU in St. Kilda, the Child & Adolescent Service located in Moorabbin and Headspace service in various locations in Victoria Aged Psychiatry based at Caulfield Hospital and Monash-Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc), in partnership with Monash University. Alfred Psychiatry also works in partnership with relevant local non-government and social support agencies.
A unique opportunity is available to provide neuropsychological assessments and cognitive interventions to adults within the Alfred Hospital’s Community Psychiatry Program. This new, permanent 0.4 EFT position has been created specifically to provide targeted cognitive rehabilitation to adults experiencing mental illness via both group and individual-based interventions, along with the provision of clinical neuropsychological assessments within the service. Professional supervision will be provided by the Senior Neuropsychologist within Community Psychiatry. Experience working within a mental health setting is desired, as would be experience providing cognitive interventions. However, neuropsychology registrars working towards endorsement who hold relevant clinical experience would also be considered.
An approved degree with a major in psychology and a masters or doctorate in clinical neuropsychology.
Registration as a psychologist with the Psychologists Board of Australia
Endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist or actively working towards endorsement.
Demonstrated interest and experience in working with adults with a servere and enduring mental illness, particularly those experiencing psychosis.
