DEPARTMENT

The Alfred is home to one of Victoria’s most comprehensive gastroenterology services.

The Alfred Gastroenterology Department is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with suspected or established gastrointestinal and liver disease including the appropriate utilisation of diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. Clientele include inpatients admitted electively or via the Emergency Department directly to the Gastroenterology Unit or referred for investigation and management from other Units within The Alfred, as well as outpatients managed in the General Gastroenterology, Hepatitis, Liver, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Functional Gut, PEG, Hepatoma and Endoscopy Clinics.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position involves responsibility for all aspects of the co-ordination of service delivery via the centralised computer booking system for clinic and procedural bookings as well as Medicare billing, preparation of and procedural sessions and follow up requirements for (a) highly specialised clinics (Hepatitis, Liver, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Coeliac, PEG, Hepatoma and Endoscopy Clinics) run specifically via the Department of Gastroenterology; and (b) the combined Gastroenterology and Colorectal Surgical Anorectal Physiology Service that involves procedural investigations in the Clinical Service Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience in health/hospital essential
