The Radiation Oncology department of the Alfred Hospital has a vacancy for a part-time data manager.


The Alfred Health Radiation Oncology (AHRO) Department is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service provided by Alfred Health. The department is comprised of two units, Alfred Radiation Oncology (ARO) located in the South Block at The Alfred and The Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO), located at Latrobe Regional Hospital. Together the two units provide the full range of radiation oncology and radiation therapy services (with the exception of paediatrics) in addition to some specialized services with both state and national significance. This position is primarily based at ARO The Alfred


The successful applicant will be involved in the maintenance of departmental databases for all patients attending the department as well as assisting in related research projects.


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health, Science, Health Information Management or a related paramedical discipline
  • An understanding of oncology is desirable
  • Previous experience in data management and clinical trials is desirable
  • Skilled in hospital based or similar computer systems
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access databases
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organisational and workload management skills and proven attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain databases and data collection systems
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data collected
