The Department

Mental and Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The Role 

The position is part of a statewide DHHS funded Post Discharge Support which aims to build the Peer Workforce in Victorian Mental Health Services, reduce readmission rates, connect individuals to communities to establish support in their daily lives, to achieve a more efficient and collaborative transition to the community after psychiatric admission. 

Skills

  • Articulate and demonstrate the distinctive peer support role within the service
  • Strong organisational skills 
  • Communicate effectively within a professional environment
  • Uphold the rights of people affected by mental health problems and mental disorders and those of their family members and/or carers, maintaining their privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
  • Reports completed in a timely manner

Qualification Requirements desirable:

lived experience of mental illness
