POSITION SUMMARY:

Alfred Health Carer Services provides face-to-face and phone support to carers of people with a disability, mental illness, age-related condition and dementia who live in the Southern Region.  The teams respond to carers’ urgent or episodic needs; identifying the need for more intensive or ongoing support; and linking carers into services to support the caring role and care relationship. Carers may also be linked to available peer support and education activities.

 

We are currently looking for allied health professionals to join our casual bank.  Casual staff may be required to support all programs in the service at various times, with the majority of the work being phone-based.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum Bachelor-level qualifications in Health, Behavioural Sciences, Social Sciences or Welfare
  • Experience working with carer’s and families
  • Knowledge and experience working within disability, aged, mental health or community services
  • Experience in managing a caseload, with skills in needs assessment, support planning and providing emotional support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Knowledge of National Disability Insurance Scheme and My Aged Care
