  • Full time – 80 hours per fortnight, including an ADO

With a mission to improve care of the injured, the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) was established in 2003 by partnership institutions Alfred Health and Monash University.  The NTRI is located with the Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct (AMREP) at The Alfred campus in Melbourne, Australia and supports the Trauma Services clinical unit’s education and research activities.

The NTRI works with organisations nationally and internationally to prevent and reduce the impact of severe injury by integrating research, education, biotechnologies and trauma system development to improve clinical care and outcomes.  In early 2016 the NTRI’s activities were combined with those of The Alfred Trauma Service to integrate research with patient outcomes and to improve efficiency.


The NTRI Senior Finance Officer has responsibility of reporting to The Director, The National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) through the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting and analytics in relation to the finance and business matters associated with NTRI & The Trauma Services, a business unit of Alfred Health and Monash University.

This role works closely with the project teams to stay abreast of their project costs and impact to the budget and forecasts.


  • A business or accounting degree.
  • Demonstrated record of delivering quality financial reports and analysis
  • Proven experience in accounting/finance, budgeting, analysis and reporting
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Intermediate skills in using the Microsoft suite of products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, as well as   familiarity with Google Docs and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to work autonomously & without supervision


  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word demonstrated by the ability to create complex spread sheets, pivot tables and templates.
  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience in this field
  • Previous experience in using large-scale software programs associated with booking travel, ordering supplies, financial (credit card) reconciliations, and financial cost centres.
  • Previous experience within a large organisation, such as a hospital or tertiary education institution.
