  • Scientist Grade 3 -Hematology section of Alfred pathology service
  • Fixed term position until 31/8/19.

The Department 

Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides a comprehensive range of pathology testing, consultation services and collection services to clinicians and patients of Alfred Health. The Service has 5 units (Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology and Human Molecular Pathology), each headed by a Unit Head. APS has the core laboratory at The Alfred as well as a small local laboratory at Sandringham hospital. We are also in collaboration with Northern Hospital as of early 2019 and will be providing support and some specialty testing.

The Role

We are seeking applicants for this fixed term position in the automated haematology section of APS. 

You are required to have the ability to demonstrate management and communication skills necessary to lead the team of staff in the Automated Haematology area.

Skills

Experience requirements include at least 5 years working in a haematology laboratory, a high degree of morphology capability, proven computer skills and past involvement in training and competency assessments. 

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Applied Science with post-graduate qualifications being desirable.
