The Department

Alfred Psychiatry is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne. Alfred Psychiatry also works in partnership with relevant local non-government and social support agencies.

The single most important goal of Alfred Psychiatry is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced  Senior Allied Health clinician to work within our Emergency Psychiatry team, located at The Alfred. You will work across all parts of the Emergency Psychiatry team including CATT, Triage, PACER and the Emergency Psychiatry Service (EPS) within ED. You will have demonstrated ability to lead others  and have experience managing resources, prioritising referrals, providing supervision to junior staff and ensuring risks in individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crisis are mitigated. We are a dynamic and motivated team and the work always varied and satisfying. 


  • The ability to be flexible and work under pressure is essential.
  • Provide expert mental health advice and consultation to referring agencies, professionals, families/carers and potential clients.
  • Support and actively ensure the engagement of clients, carers and families in treatment planning and review process.
  • Registration with the AHPRA
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence is essential.
