The Department

The Alfred is one of the leading cardiology services for the state and receives many referrals spanning a broad range of conditions. Often patients are seen through our General Cardiology service for diagnosis and management, and depending on the tests and treatments required, patients are either referred on to our other specialist clinics or managed within this clinic.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a part-time (3 days per week) Registered Nurse to assist with clinical research and audit in the Department of Cardiology, Heart Failure Research Group at the Alfred Hospital.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to high standards of clinical research, computer literacy and the ability to effectively manage research data.  The Research Nurse will be employed to manage current and new Heart Failure research studies both investigator led and industry based under the direction of Prof David Kaye and associated medical staff of the Cardiology Dept.  

Skills

Duties include, but are not limited to: screening and recruiting subjects into clinical research studies, completing all associated required documentation, entering data into online web based systems and undertaking telephone follow-up of post procedure patients as required.  In conjunction, maintenance of relevant computer databases will be a high priority.  Administrative work is also required in relation to study drug/devices and necessary Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) reporting.
