  • Based at The Alfred Hospital

The Department

Ward 3 West is a 46 bed Cardiovascular unit that has recently undergone transformation to increase cardiac capacity which services patients Australia wide. 3 West forms part of the comprehensive cardiovascular service operating across the third floor. Our unit specialises in the management of patients requiring Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Heart Failure services, inclusive of the state-wide transplantation and ventricular assist device service.

Our team has a strong vision for patient centred care and leading the way in quality improvements to ensure our patients are provided with exceptional care.

Ward 3 West delivers patient care through a multidisciplinary team approach and shared governance, which is facilitated by daily ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

The Role

As Nurse Manager of 3 West you will report to the Clinical Services Director, Alfred Heart & Lung in leading staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice, managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient access to services and outcomes of care. This is a full-time management role with the accountability to lead change and influence a working culture to achieve a higher standard of person centred care throughout the entire service.

 SKILLS

  • Experience in cardiac care (Post-graduate qualifications desirable)
  • Ability to lead and manage change
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to motivate individuals and groups to achieve commonly held goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people to problem solve in a solution-focused manner
  • Ability to work effectively and provide support to nursing staff, senior medical staff and a range of other health professionals and support staff
