Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services.
Alfred Health is looking to recruit a senior governance executive to become our new Company Secretary.
The Company Secretary works closely with the Chief Executive and General Counsel and provides executive support and high-quality advice to Alfred Health’s Board of Directors and Chief Executive on matters of corporate governance and Board operations.
Ongoing duties include the preparation and distribution of papers, coordination of actions arising from Board and sub-committee meetings, input on policy development, and auditing of compliance with the Competing Interests Policy and the Gifts, Benefits and Hospitality Policy. The Company Secretary will also respond to specific requests for advice on compliance and governance issues.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated governance experience at the executive and board level, preferably in the health sector. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate sound judgment in stakeholder engagement and the capacity to implement effective governance systems in a modern statutory corporation.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated capacity to:
- Communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken form
- Deliver a high standard of service and support to key stakeholders
- Maintain positive, professional relationships
This is a part time (0.6 EFT), ongoing position. The successful candidate will be expected to be contactable every weekday, but (subject to the Board and Committee timetable) there is considerable flexibility in the times that the successful candidate spends in the office.
