  • Permanent role - full-time (76 hours a fortnight)

An exciting and challenging opportunity exists at Alfred Health for a Freedom of Information Officer.  Based at The Alfred, you will be reporting to the Manager of Legal Support Services (inc. Freedom of Information & Police Liaison).

This position covers a wide variety of activities associated with the processing of requests for health information including, liaising with a range of internal departments and external stakeholders.  You will have proven experience assessing and responding to Freedom of Information (‘FOI’) requests (preferably with a health care focus) and an understanding of consent and privacy issues covered by the relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to requests received from internal departments and external stakeholders for patient information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 1982.
  • Negotiating and consulting with applicants and key stakeholders regarding the requests. 
  • The ability to apply the relevant legislation.  
  • Following up and ensuring requests for health information are completed in a timely manner.
  • Compiling and maintaining accurate aggregated FOI data for all Alfred Health campuses in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Information Commissioner to enable annual statutory reporting to the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner.

You will be deadline driven with excellent organisational skills, the ability to work to tight deadlines and comply to statutory requirements, and with a strong quality and customer focus whilst committing to the overall success of the team.
