Alfred Health is a major provider of specialist services throughout the State of Victoria. It is one of Australia’s leading public health care providers, a teaching hospital and an academic partner of Monash University. The Alfred Cardiothoracic Surgery service provides a broad range of highly specialised procedures including cardiac and pulmonary transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and pulmonary endarterectomy. The Service is a leader in transplantation and performs over 600 cardiac cases annually and a significant thoracic workload providing services to both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Applications are invited for the position of Director Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Director Cardiothoracic Surgery will oversee excellent clinical care, whilst supporting Alfred Health's teaching, research and clinical governance programs. The successful applicant will provide excellent clinical expertise and service in Cardiothoracic Surgery, provide supervision to junior medical and other relevant staff within the Unit.
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery is required as well as meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
