The Department

The Nursing Education Department is committed to advancing professional development through education, learning and training for all nurses. We work in partnership with Nursing services and clinical programs to identify educational needs and work strategically to address these needs. The Nursing Education department provides governance and coordination of all nursing educational activities. This includes pre-registration, early career and post-graduate support. Nursing educational activities incorporate evidence-based and best practice principles in order to support outstanding and safe quality patient care and outcomes in the dynamic, ever-changing clinical environment. There is an opportunity to constantly explore new approaches to education that will enhance and support the nursing workforce to achieve continuous service improvement and professional development.

 

The Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our dynamic Nursing Education team within Alfred Health as an Education Coordinator across inpatient Surgery and Cancer clinical programs. As a Nursing Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and evaluation of the delivery of a Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment (BPCLE) within the programs in collaboration with the Clinical Service Director/Deputy Director, other Education Coordinators and education team. The Nursing Education coordinator is a strategic role aligned with the quality and risk imperatives of the aligned programs.  This role provides leadership and management of a team of nurse educators and clinical support nurses to bring together the needs of the programs whilst representing the Nursing Executive Strategy and Nursing Education Department strategy and initiatives at the program level.

 

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Master’s degree in nursing or clinical education
  • Previous experience in an educational leadership role with demonstrated ability to provide educational opportunities in a supportive learning environment
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment, across multiple discipline settings and develop collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Significant experience in the development and delivery of contemporary teaching and learning practices within a complex and supportive environment.
